The AdBK Nuremberg takes the annual exhibition as an opportunity to present the artistic work of the academic year in a catalog. Individual works by students are just as present as collective class projects. Photographic reproductions give an impression of physical works and ephemeral situations. In order to do justice to the temporality of artistic work, the standstill of the catalog format is being lifted by means of new technologies.
For the first time in the ten-year history of the catalog, the printed level is abandoned and expanded to include the virtual level. The use of the smartphone enables the still image to be brought to life: the Artivive app plays artistic video works and acoustic soundtracks; Performances and creative processes set in motion.
Prof. Holger Felten, President of the AdBK Nuremberg, introduces the catalog and the handling of the app - using video and text: “The perception of artistic work occurs through all the senses. It is most haunting and intense only in front of and on the original - in correspondence with the light, the space, the viewer and the self. ”Ellen Blumenstein, Professor of Theory and Practice of Exhibiting, writes about the importance of celebrations in their ritual regularity, In order to contextualize the room staging In the Sign of Goosebumps designed for the annual exhibition: “The festival is not a space for self-forgetfulness, but for social reflection in which we compare the idea of who we are with the desire to be who we want to be . On the one hand based on strict repetition, on the other hand it always includes the possibility to emerge from the ritual changed. ”An additional booklet presents the exhibition activities of the art college, which were realized both on campus and in the Akademie Galerie Nürnberg Auf AEG during the academic year.
